She's Back! Marilee Jones disgraced at MIT in 2007 reinvents herself ... again!

Two Years Later, Former Head of Admissions Is a Freelance College Advisor - The Tech

[quote]

Marilee Jones, who resigned as dean of admissions in April 2007 after admitting she had lied about her academic credentials on her resume, has forged a new life for herself after MIT. . . .
Through her business, Jones said she has been advising parents on how to support their children in their college application processes.

“I am not an independent counselor,” said Jones. “I don’t help kids get into college, but I show parents how to behave around their children … I support parents so they don’t screw up their kids.”. . .
Jones said that about 50 people contact her for advice each month and that most of her work is pro bono, but some customers pay her by the hour.

She is trying to restart her public speaking career and is writing a second book. (Her first one, titled Less Stress, More Success: A New Approach to Guiding Your Teen Through College Admissions and Beyond, was published in 2006.) . . .
Jones was publicly asked to resign after MIT administrators discovered that her claims to three degrees on her resume from her initial application to MIT were false.

Wonder how she can tell applicants to not lie on their applications with a straight face ;)

Marilee’s site includes testimonials from satisfied customers including:

The Trustees of the Institution that hired this “Dean”, probably should do a through verification check of the degrees earned, listed on the resume, if Marilee was a guide and mentor to the “Dean” in preparing the resume. :)

Here’s the thread that reported Marilee’s “embellishments” back in April of 2007

Funny that her consulting firm has “Tru” in its name -

But maybe it makes sense after all -

its not the whole Truth, just TRU - part of the truth.

Does that make it false??

It’s kind of amazing how people stick with someone to the end because of their personality despite their deeds. Yes, you could claim that she helps out families by encouraging them to act appropriately, but that’s kind of like Bush being commended on giving an anti-war speech.

In 2006 Marilee Jones spoke to her daughter’s class, advising them to, “create your own reality”.

This has got to be the definition of irony! It’s amazing to me how anyone can trust the advice of this woman.

Was this the same woman who perpetuated the image of the Asian “textureless math grind”? What a wonderful woman.

Hi monstor344,

Yes apparently it was Marilee Jones who is more than willing to dismiss an Asian student as, “yet another textureless math grind”.

Following quote from the MIT Tech [Student’s Race Complaint Undecided For Princeton - The Tech](http://tech.mit.edu/V127/N10/affirmativeaction.html)

Wonderful woman indeed.

Marilee Jones statement April 26, 2007

By trying to cash in on her notoriety, it seems to me, that she has forfeited any expectation of a right to privacy.

Here she speaks freely to the NY Times about everything, except her fraud at MIT

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/12/08/education/08jones.html?_r=1&hpw</a></p>

Marilee apparently only thinks privacy is important in covering up her lies.

But she unwittingly reveals her biggest problem in the final quote in the article.

Marilee Jones, when are you going to face yourself ?!?!
