Greetings! So I’m kinda in a weird situation and I’m trying to explore my options. In high school, I was kinda going through a lot (death in the family, falling into depression, ect.) and I definitely didn’t try my hardest. It’s something I really regret to this day. I graduated in 2013, got accepted to a few colleges, but found that I wasn’t quite ready. I’ve come along way and I’m beginning my college search again. However, my SAT score was terrible. Is it possible that I can retake it or will it even matter if I’ve been out of high school for so long? Do you think it would help my chances for getting into schools or should I just attend a community college, build up my GPA, and plan to transfer? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
I have seen the ‘community college’ route turn out quite successful: a cousin started taking classes at a nearby college as a non-degree student (without any SAT scores), and in a couple of semesters accumulated a perfect GPA. At that point, applied to state school, where she completed a BSc, still with perfect GPA, and from then was accepted to the grad school of her choice. So it does work
Thank you for the insight. The whole college thing is so foreign to me lol will definitely look into that route!
