I was just thinking about how some AP classes are really only equivalent to a semester of a college class (like psych, gov, etc.) and that it wouldn't be too bad to offer exams like those in December or something as well as in May. I know it would be a hassle to assemble graders for those exams as well as the May exams, since most teachers teach second semester, but it could work out if they hired retired teachers or something...any thoughts?

That’s actually a pretty good idea.

Some schools only have year-long classes, however, which means they would have to find something to put in the second semester after finishing one semester’s material. (I guess they could just cover one semester’s material in a year…) This isn’t a problem for Gov or Econ, but what about Psych or Stats? :/

I like the idea. They could even hold those December/January tests and get them all graded in May.

It’s a nice idea, and it could help out a lot of schools who are on block scheduling, but I doubt that the CB would ever do it.

At my school (and other block-scheduling schools) most of the APs are only one semester long. Most APs are offered during the first (fall) semester and are completed around January. This creates a problem because most students will be finished with their AP classes in January, but then they have to wait almost 4 months before they take the national exam in May. Unsurprisingly, the AP exam scores tend to be low at my school. In some classes, student’s that manage to score a 5 have their name put up on a plaque.

That work’s wonderfully for us Self-Studiers.

That would be a pretty good idea.

CB would make more money too!
