Thank you all for the responses! I’ve decided to stay in school for senior year for AP credits … and simplicity …
@lostaccount I was vague about my EC’s and interests purposely because I didn’t want to reveal my identity or start political fights. Thus you know veeeeeeery little about me.
I don’t feel obligated to prove myself to you at all. Your discouragement does not matter. So I suggest you take your rather unfounded negativity elsewhere, because I’m proud of who I am and I’m going to apply wherever I want
I think that’s a good choice. And certainly do keep focused on your projects as EC’s – colleges definitely want students who are engaged and have a passion for something.
Don’t worry about negativity from other posters. My daughter got into Barnard with no high school math beyond advanced algebra, and only 2 lab sciences-- admissions is holistic, they are looking at the whole picture. They look at the high school curriculum in the context of the student. In my DD’s case, her semester abroad mean that she simply couldn’t fit some courses into her schedule. I wouldn’t recommend that path for other students - but the point is that the schools look at your high school curriculum in the context of you interests and talents. My d. attended an arts high school that didn’t even offer AP Calc. So there isn’t anything missing from your record, assuming you take some AP’s and have a well balanced course load going into senior year.
And you are definitely in the running for Barnard. No guarantees, of course – but overall you are the type of student they like to see.
Op you asked about whether home schooling your final year was a good idea. Had you exhausted the courses at your school-especially the ones I mention, then home schooling may make sense. As you didn’t , it doesn’t if you want to get into a elite school.
