Good luck OP. Oh, hey look for the post in the Santa Cruz section that a mom posted about her daughter going there last year. I’ll link it later if I can find it.
Just an aside, “Asians” are probably mostly just Californians. Thinking people shouldn’t have a problem with there being a lot of “Asians.” In 2016 67% of freshman admitted were from California, and almost 99% of transfers are from California CC’s (which I know does not mean they’re originally from California). Would we say, “I hope you don’t mid all the Blacks”? Anyway, just had to throw that out there.
@JessesGirl Ironically enough I’ve actually seen this thread before. I didn’t apply to Santa Cruz, and most of the posts are about UCSC. Thanks though.
@mathmom Thanks for replying! Do you happen to know what his major was? And I don’t doubt him. UCI seems to have really good professors.
Computer science and physics.
The point of the Santa Cruz thread - and there are many more comments like it - is that students often end up at a school that was not among their top choices, and on they end up thriving and very happy. I’m not saying you shouldn’t apeal, but in the event that you go to one of the other schools, there is hope that you can enjoy yourself and do well there. If you go to UCI, get it annual pass for Disneyland, and/or take-up trail running or mountain biking, or surfing. Good luck.
FWIW, I think these very specific majors for undergrads are overrated. If you like both biology and psych take courses in both. It doesn’t need to be a joint major or even an official major and minor.
@mathmom Wow! That’s impressive. I hate physics with a passion honestly. It’s so confusing for me. If he’s saying there’s good professors for that at UCI then… wow. Hope the biology department is filled with equally amazing professors.
@JessesGirl Okay thanks. Out of the schools I got accepted to I’ll probably go to UCI. I’ll try to get the Disneyland pass, but the other stuff isn’t happening lol. I’d be too afraid of drowning to surf - especially because I rarely swim period, and I absolutely hate running. I see what you’re saying though. I’ll try to make the most of my experience there. Thanks again.
