Should I apply to Math or CS and what are my chances

Do you want to be a mathematician or a computer scientist? That’s the one you want to apply to.
You can change your major between CS and math pretty easily. May want to start in CS, as its more crowded,
and make decision to change to math if you decide you want to get a PhD in math. Bachelors in math may not lead to a job, but it could if you can program. Since the CS threads like theoretical CS require a lot of math, you should be able to switch to math and not lose a semester. Other major changes at Georgia Tech will result in taking five years to get a degree, unfortunately, but CS to Math is doable if you are careful to take plenty of math with your CS requirements.
I have heard that CS is extremely competitive. Hence I was thinking of applying for Math and transferring to CS.
Georgia Tech admits to the school as a whole. So there are no quotas for CS, and students can change majors but if you wait too long then it will be hard to finish in four years. Apply to the program you want to study, as then your essays will line up with your interests. Otherwise you will need to say what you want to do with your math major, such as teach high school or get a PhD in math.
