Are printers necessary? Or are they just a hassle? I know that you can print on campus but some people say that it's better to just have your own.

I don’t own a printer and I honestly don’t need or want one. It just takes up room. You already get free printing from the university (like 50 or so pages per week) so why waste it? Yes, it was slightly annoying to have to wait for the printer to be free, but as long as you leave yourself enough time you’ll be good.

You don’t need it.

it depends on your personal preferences – will you be the type to leave enough time to go and get something printed at a public printer? or are you more likely to be printing something 2 am the night before its due? what do you think you’re likely to need to print?
also the convenience of the public printers varies a bit by which residential community you live in.
you can always go without one, and if you then decide you want one (once you see where and how convenient the public ones are and know your courses and how much you’ll have to print out as opposed to email), you can always buy one up there – best buy and staples are near by.
