Hi,
I'm currently an undergraduate at Virginia Tech majoring in Materials Science; however, I'd really like to pursue a nuclear degree for masters. Note, VT does not offer NucE as major, but it does have a minor.

My question then is, would MSE provide a good basis for NucE? Or should I switch to something like MechE or ChemE (both of which I find interesting)?

Materials Science is an excellent place to start for Nuclear Engineering. Many universities that don’t have a nuclear Engineering program will put the NucE faculty in the Materials Engineering/Science departments. other good majors for NucE are physics and mechanical engineering, not so sure about chemistry.

try finding a school that offers an undergrad in NucE and see what courses they offer then compare to yours. I would think some chem courses would help but not a chem Eng degree. I agree with above physics would help too
