So for the spring semester I decided to settle for industrial engineering as my major. I’m in community college taking the required pre-reqs for it and my dream is Berkeley but my backup is calpoly. Right now is the end of the semester, but my grades aren’t great at all. I got a C in Chem 1A, I failed my matlab course, and my English grade looks like a B. The only course that I’ve been great it and seems like I’ll get an A for my final grade is calculus 1. Idk if I should continue trying to pursue engineering, I really want to though. I feel my chances of getting into Berkeley have totally gone by.
Among California public universities, you can study industrial engineering at CPSLO, CPP, CSUEB, and SJSU, as well as UCB.
You need to figure out why your grades are so low. With the grades you are getting even CalPoly is out of reach.
It’s not uncommon for students to first struggle in these classes, as they underestimate the amount of time and effort that’s required (especially in a programing class). You still have time to turn around your grades, but you do need to figure out what went wrong and try to correct it.
By the way, why MATLAB? Usually C++ or another language is a requirement for Industrial Engineering, they really don’t use MATLAB. Check those transfer requirements.
Well the C++ is a requirement but not the matlab. I decided to take matlab because my counselor recommended it and it also makes the application stronger. And it’s offered during the spring term only at my CC
