Hi im a rising junior and i was wondering if itd be better for me to apply early ED or regular when applying to MIT.

Previous courses: all honors classes with A's

Junior courses: AP English
AP Bio
AP computer science or AP stat (depends if comp science is offered this year)
Honors History
Honors Trig/pre Calc
Honors Chem
SPanish 3

Senior:
AP econ
AP chem
AP physics
AP calc
AP computer science
SPanish 4
AP Lit

I was wondering because ill only have 3 AP's my junior year but didnt know if itd matter because id already have my first quarter grades in (senior year) in time for ED and i have plentry of APs then, im not worried about getting As for i can surely do it with plenty of dedication and a good work ethic so please dont let that effect your decisions. I also hear that the acceptance rate is higher for ED and i could be deferred which is better than straight rejected. Lemme know!

I previously didnt take any AP courses because junior year was the first year i was able to take any and ive taken all the ones i could besides APush. So in the interview i could telll them thats why i have so few? Lemme know what you guys think !

First of all, it’s too early to start thinking about this.

Secondly, do your research. MIT has unrestricted Early Action and not early decision.

i disagree, if i didt think about this now (like most other kids) id be bumrushed by it mid year this year and i probs wouldve second guessed the courses id already be enthralled in, thanks anyways

and alright to everyone else i mean EA!

MIT EA/overall acceptance rates last year were 11.3% and 8.9% respectively. It’s a lottery school no matter when you apply, but if you apply EA you get an application out of the way earlier.

Why would you feel rushed about this during your high school junior year? Anyone applying ED/EA/SCEA/REA/rolling should start working early on their applications, but that’s during the summer before senior year, not junior.

Your high school profile should mention the school’s policy on taking AP courses.

“enthralled” instead of “enrolled” belongs on Damn You Autocorrect. :)

I had three AP’s in junior year…and two in senior year. I recall MIT having early action but not early decision, as cortana431 said.

Also, MIT doesn’t accept certain AP courses, and only accepts 5’s on most of them. And they ask for all of your senior grades, so that won’t matter if you’re applying regular or EA.

Nice catch entomom!

@entomom lol. Something’s fishy here…

Hello entomom! very sorry for the confusion but i also post questions that my friends are wondering too ! since this is “anonymous” i figured hey why not John Deer (made up friend) Ill ask the CC community what they think about your question and let you know the updates, instead of telling the entire community who the actual question pertains too when its not really at all relevant since this is an anonymous site, i just act as if its me to save time, didnt really think it was a huge deal but there! now its cleared up ! thanks for all the input for those of you who answered (:

That’s where you’re wrong. Again, I direct you to the TOS.

Closing this thread and from now on all your posts must say clearly who is asking the question, you, a friend, your uncle, etc.
