Hi everyone. I'm will be a transfer student in the Fall majoring in econ. However, I'm still deciding whether I should do the joint econ and math major. What do you guys think? Will it be worth taking another 10 math classes? What are the upper division classes like? Will it make me more competitive for when I apply to grad schools? Any advice would help. Thanks!!

Math is almost universally favored in grad school, though it’s known as a GPA-killer for a lot of other students.

It’s worth the extra math classes if you plan to do study Economics at the Masters or Doctorate level, since all graduate economics courses are differential and real analysis, with “economics content” few and far between.

Some upper-div classes are harder than others. You may see only 1-3 people fail a class, but then again, there are only 15-20 people in each of my classes to begin with. Keep up with the curves and you’ll be all right.
