(sorry if it’s lengthy)
I am currently a senior at a fairly competitive high school with a fantastic foreign language program and I am about to take my 6th year of Spanish which is AP Spanish Literature. I have heard from past students–including 2 of our past valedictorians–to drop the class because of how stressful and difficult it is and because of the poor teaching style of the teacher, who happens to be the only AP Spanish Lit teacher on the campus. I do want to major in foreign affairs or international business, however I already passed my AP Spanish Language exam with a 4 and will have a seal of biliteracy on my diploma, so my question is: would it be worth it to take AP Spanish Literature this year?
Are you a native speaker?
Do you intend to take Spanish in college?
If you intend to work with Spanish in the future, I would keep taking it unless you are a native speaker.
Or if you could figure out some other way to maintain you spanish…reading books, watching telenovelas, watching movies in spanish.
What other AP classes are you taking?
I would not take it. Ask yourself if you are going to take spanish in college and if the teacher is bad will you really learn anything
