I made a 35 and a 0 on the past 2 tests and there's another test tomorrow. The test that i made a 0 on only had 4 questions and I studied the night before but i guess i didn't study enough. Should i drop the class now and retake it next semester? Would a "W" on my transcript look worse than an F?

F will torpedo your gpa.
Take the W, the grade hole you dug is TOO deep.

Making a zero on a test should have tipped you off to drop.

“studied the night before”. Maybe take a break instead and reevaluate your priorities.

Studying the night before, if that’s all the studying you did, is not enough. You need to study on a daily basis so it has time to really sink in. In studying every day, the lectures might actually mean something as knowledge in the STEM areas builds on itself (got to learn to walk before you can run type of thing).

Drop the class before you tank your GPA. Correct your approach and try again (or switch to business).

Agree with others. Drop the class. Re-evaluate your priorities. You will not make it in engineering with that type of work ethic.

It sounds like a W is the least evil. Consult wtih your advisor about options for next semester.

How many tests are there? Is there still time for you to recover your grade?

I’m pretty sure getting a 35 and a 0 on two tests would be quite hard to recover from. After all, in most college courses, majority of your grade will come from tests, and it’s getting close to Thanksgiving break.

I suppose a lot depends on the curve. Freshman physics classes are notiorious for low averages. But 35 and 0 do sound quiet low.

awkwardbeagle - Have you been able to talk with your advisor? Keep an eye on your school’s Withdrawal deadline.

Take the W.

You got a zero and you “guess you didn’t study enough”?? Might need to do some serious introspection before you try again.

Hey sorry for taking so long to reply to everyone but i switched to accounting a few days ago. I was already behind in my schools engineering curriculum and failing physics 1 would put me even further behind so i decided to change my major. I started copying answers for the homework at the beginning of the semester and i never really stopped despite failing every test so i am pretty sure that is why i am in this situation. I’m pretty sure im going to study and do all the homework on my own for accounting from now on

Good job taking action. (I assume you did a Withdrawal from Physics, to avoid the F). It sounds like engineering was not your cup of team. That happens a lot. Good luck in accounting!
