Should I ED at Grinnell?

Hi,
I am an IB grad with the following grades: 6 4 3 in my HL and 6 5 4 in my SL. I have retaken the HL subjects with 4 and 3 and am awaiting results. I scored 1910 on my SATs.
I was thinking of applying to Grinnell for ED. Grinnell is obviously a high reach for me but I am willing to take chances for ED.
However I am undecided whether I should apply ED there.
The dilemma is- Grinnell provides a special scholarship for people from specific locations including Nepal (thats where I am from). I intend to apply for the scholarship even though it is very competitive and my grades aren't that good. And Grinnell recommends people who wish to apply for the scholarship to apply in regular decision.
On the other hand, I think a person's admission has better chances in ED because of a smaller pool of applicants. And instead of the scholarship, I could instead be legible for just the need based aid.
Should I ED at Grinnell or not? Please help.

I’m new to this whole process but my dd did ED to her first choice school. I would think that if you can afford to go there without knowing any other financials for any other school and you would 100% happy there then ED. BUT, I think if you need to ask if you should ED then you shouldn’t be applying ED.

What is Grinnell’s ED deadline? I thought most of them have passed but really not sure.

You should be more worried about finances than whether or not you can get in. I would advise against applying ED, because it sounds like you wouldn’t be able to easily afford Grinnell. You should only ED if you’re both 100% sure you’d want to go to that school and you’re 100% sure you can afford it. It’s not worth going into $100,000 of debt to go to college.

Thanks lovestotravel and Kudryavka. I dearly want to attend Grinnell but since finances is my biggest obstacle, I was wondering if I should take my chances at scholarship or financial aid. I think I will choose to apply for regular decision then.

@lovestotravel: the ED deadline is 15th of November.

If you apply ED and fin out that the financial aid package doesn’t work you can say that and then apply elsewhere. Grinnell is very good with financial aid. Give them a call and they can give you a rough estimate.
