I know my SAT/ACT scores aren't great, but I was hoping that my GPA and ECs would make up for it.

I’m assuming that’s your weighted GPA - what’s your unweighted GPA? It may be a possibility, but definitely a high reach. If you’d really like to go there, no harm in trying, I’d say.

What did you get in each section of the SAT and SAT?

Everything looks pretty good. I wouldn’t list the Ivy Insiders thing on my application, though.

It’s a high reach for you.

You have GOT to do better than that on your standardized tests, especially since you haven’t really done anything to distinguish yourself from other Asian applicants.

Maybe try to get recruited for tennis?

Take the ACT and SAT again and see if you can get those scores higher. Don’t forget to take SAT II’s (last year’s requirement was three, but I’ve heard this year’s requirement is going to be 2 tests – I would still take 3 tests, or more, anyway). I agree with silverturtle in that it’s going to be a high reach for you since there isn’t much to really distinguish yourself from other applicants. Your GPA and class rank are excellent, but unfortunately that’s not going to get you into to schools like HYPMS.

Enjoy life. Don’t stress over the SATs. If you get in, you get in. Raising your SAT score by 150 points and doing 1 more activity and starting a new club isn’t going to really make a difference, so there’s no point in doing it unless you want to for your own benefit

^^ Are you kidding? A 150 point different is huge. It will definitely make a difference.

“Raising your SAT score by 150 points and doing 1 more activity and starting a new club isn’t going to really make a difference.”

A 150 point would be pretty significant, IMO. Of course, it depends what your scores are. A 2050 to a 2200 is a much-needed increase, while a 2250 to a 2400 wouldn’t do as much for you (a 2400 would be great, but a 2250 can get you in so it isn’t as big of a deal to raise the score - not to say it would still be good to raise the score).

A reach unless you are a recruited athlete.

californiadancer: Yes, that’s my weighted GPA. I believe my unweighted GPA is around 3.9-4.0.

I’ll be taking my SAT I one more time in October. I’m taking a summer test prep program, so I’m really hoping my scores will be higher.

As for getting recruited for tennis, haha I can definitely try.

Thank you all for your feedbacks.
