Should I even try to apply for an internship.

Hello I just transferred into Northeastern and I am currently a sophomore. I had to drop one of my 3 classes and i have a W on my transcript. I am going to retake it in the spring. Im also most likely going to get a C in one of my other classes. My question is should I even apply for internships? will a light course-load and that W on my transcript hurt me greatly given its my first semester here? will applying now hurt my chances in any way of getting one next fall?

Thanks.

Are you talking internships or co-ops? (I’m also a Northeastern student.)
The simple way to put it: you won’t get any positions if you don’t apply. I do not think that applying and being rejected will hurt you in the future. If nothing else, going through the process, even if you don’t get an internship, will prepare you for what to expect the next time around. If we are talking summer internships and not co-op, maybe you could spend the summer taking classes if you don’t get an internship. It would give you a chance to fill out your resume even more before you try again.

I say to at least give it a try. Also, the career center is really good, so if you make an appointment there they might be able to help you figure out how to best present yourself and give you some tips.
