Should I give up hope? Chances....

<p>Hey guys, congarts to all those who applied. Wha do you think my chances are? I'm a URM (African American) from MD. I'm really nervous that I wont get into CALS because I don't live in New York.</p>

<p>Scores:
SAT: V- 710 M- 760 (total 1470)
SAT 2: Math- 670
Writing- 720
Biology- 760
GPA: 3.83 (unweighted on a 4.0 scale) about a 96 on a 100 scale and 4.48 weighted
AP scores: Biology- 5
AP Lanuguage- 3 (i have no idea what happened there)
AP's taking this year: AB Calc, Environmental science, Literature, Chemistry</p>

<p>Activities:
President of the National Honor Society at my school,
Vice president of my class,
secretary of diversity club,
newspaper reporter,
varsity swimming,
varsity track,
varsity poms,
junior varsity volleyball (captain),
Senior citizens prom</p>

<p>Awards/ Honors:
National Acheivement Semifinalist,
Biology student of the year,
Global Ecology student of the year,
Honor roll every marking period</p>

<p>Community Service hours: over 500 hours</p>

<p>I think you have a terrific shot, particularly as a URM with leadership and sports. What is your intended major? This is an important consideration.</p>

<p>Your credentials look pretty darn good, but you never know what admissions thinks. As far as looking at what you've done overall, I'd say your chances look pretty good, given that you have good essays, recs, etc.</p>

<p>My advice: Don't obsess! Your chances are fine. But as I like to say, I cannot estimate your chances neither can anyone else on this message board. Just apply and you'll have a chance. You have to be in it to win it!</p>

<p>Looks good to me! When I visited Cornell, all the Ag school students I talked to stressed that 5 on biology. Everything else looks great as well. Good luck!</p>
