I go to a very elite, private college prep high school and after 1st semester jr year, i have a 2.76 GPA. 2nd semester jr year, my grades have gone up to about a 3.1. I am in the bottom auarter of my class. I have great test scores (91% percentile), I am an excellent writer, heres my extracurriculars:
-School spirit club
-key club
-harvard model congress
-gymnastics
-student ambassador

What are my chances of getting in?

Unless you bring up your GPA, your chances arent very likely.

Have you taken the SATs or ACTs? Those scores are very important too.

I havent taken them yet but I score extremely high on the PSAT. Even if I bring me GPA up to a 3.2 or something, will they note the improvement and over look my bad start?

Yeah, they will definately look at if you had an improvement or not. However, try to shoot for higher than a 3.2 if thats possible. If you have a 3.4-3.5, then they would really see that you improved drastically which would help you a lot.

I cant seem to pull my Chemistry grade up higher than a D. Ive heard that colleges are leneint when looking at Chemistry grades because its so challenging. Is that true?

Umm, a D???

Yeah, that will definately effect you BIG TIME. Most colleges don't even look at people with a D.

I am also in Chemistry...and I have a high B. I don't think they are very lenient just because its Chem. There are a lot of classes that are harder than that such as Calculus or any AP course.

Anyway, if you want to get in, at least try to pull that up to a C.
