Should I go to grad school for political science?

Currently, I'm a freshman at Central Michigan University. I'm currently enrolled in the Honors Program and am looking to double major in journalism and political science. CMU has a good journalism program and its poly-sci program is decent as well. It's my goal to become a political journalist.

Since the field of journalism is very competitive, I'm thinking I may want to go to grad school. I've been talking to some in the field and they all stress that majoring in journalism isn't that important. It's more about how well you can write and how much of an expert you are in the field. Since I want to be a political journalist, I decided to double major and am thinking about going to grad school to set myself apart. Plus, if journalism doesn't work out, I have more fallbacks.

My goal as of right now is to get into grad school at the University of Michigan for political science. Two questions: Does this make sense? and What GPA do you need to get into grad school at U-M? (I know there's more to it than GPA, but I'm curious. I can't find anything about it online).

You’re a freshmen. Go get good grades, leave the towers, and head out to main street on the weekends. Chances are your interest will change. With that said, don’t start researching grad programs until at least next year.
