<p>I am going to be a college freshman next year, and will most certainly begin my career as an Apple customer. I am debating right now whether or not to go with the Macbook Air or the Macbook Pro.</p>
<p>I have some opinions, but I am seeking feedback from those who have experience with Apple computers.</p>

<p>My daughter went with the MB Pro, but in retrospect wishes that she had gone with the MB Air. In the store, there does not appear to be much of a difference between these two 13" models, size-wise. However, ‘in the field’, the Air can fit into a shoulder bag or messenger bag much more easily than a Pro. Some women can fit their Airs in their purses.</p>
<p>Our D had the Pro before and liked it, but just got the Air and likes it even more, for the extreme lightness and portability. The battery life is great, too.</p>
<p>I have a 15" Pro. It’s awesome–great battery life, easy to use, no problems w/ either the OS or hardware. But, truthfully, I sort of wish I had the Air. The Pro can become pretty heavy pretty easily, and carrying it long distances can be a pain. The Air has nearly every feature that the Pro has, minus the disk drive (which I barely use). So I would heartily recommend the beautiful, slim, powerful 13" Air!</p>
<p>Oh but be aware: a new generation of Pros/ Airs should be released around April or May, so you may want to hold off making the jump until then if you care.</p>
<p>Oh alrigh… That’s good to know… I’m waiting until spring to get one regardless. Interesting to see that most people prefer the 13’ inch Air. I’ll keep that in mind.</p>
<p>I have the 13 inch pro and I would definitely recommend that as it is just more sturdy/has the disk drive. I have found it to be very portable, not a problem at all.</p>
<p>But the Air is more “sturdy” BECAUSE it has no disk drive (no moving parts).</p>
<p>The 13 inch air is fantastic. Most people have a pro but I’ve literally never needed to use the disc drive and its super fast with great battery life, not to mention significantly thinner and lighter than the pro. Very satisfied with it.</p>
<p>The Air, by it’s nature, is already a generation behind the Pro’s. That doesn’t mean it’s a serviceable machine, it just means you are giving up processing power for size. You can only get a dual-core CPU on the Air and a quad-core is standard on the Pro. If you aren’t an Art, Engineering or Architecture student, it may be just fine.</p>
<p>In my opinion, I don’t think the replies above are helpful, but that’s not their fault. They’re doing their best, but realistically, they don’t know what you need the Mac for. <p>@fenderjazz - A quad-core is not standard on the Pro. The 13" MBP comes with a dual-core processor, thus not standard on the Pro lineup. However it is standard on the 15" and 17" MBPs.</p>
<p>I think it depends on what type of person you are, how much money you’re able to spend and what you need it for. Be more exact in your questions.</p>
<p>Yeah, it depends on what you’re doing in college. If its basic stuff like documents, powerpoint, email, internet, youtube, etc. a 13inch Air is enough.</p>
<p>If you’re into film editing, design, 3d stuff, etc, a 15 or 17inch pro is necessary.</p>
