OK, so I did one year at community college then transferred this past Fall semester to University of Maryland and I'm about to go into my second semester, and I've seriously been considering on-campus housing.

I currently live off-campus at an apartment complex. And while its cool and all, most of the students there are much older than I am (including my roommates) and I feel kind of isolated from fully enjoying my college experience. Another issue for me has been my eating habits. Living off-campus, I've had to find time to cook and purchase food without a vehicle and it was just too much to adjust to all at once, so I've found myself waking up to an empty fridge or looking for scraps to eat in the middle of the night. As a result, I feel like affected my focus and energy throughout the semester. And as stressful as academics can already be, I feel like being on-campus and having a diner in close proximity would eliminate this problem for me.

Also, I've been told so many things about dorm life, but the general consensus that I've received is that I would be missing out if I didn't at least get to experience it once. I've met one or two people in my classes, but basically the only people I talk to on campus are 2 of my high school friends (who live at home).

I just turned 19 so I don't think I'm too old or anything, but is moving on-campus worth it? Or is the whole idea just overrated and I should just stay off-campus?
