I’m 16 and senior, my grades are fine, and I can graduate, but I talked with my parents and we concluded that it would be better if I stay in school one more year to save money, get my GPA up and turn 17, cuz I’m too young. But if I repeat my senior year, what are the chances on going to a good college?
Have you not applied to any colleges?
If so, your best option could be to take a gap year, and apply to colleges during that year while working. What is your current GPA?
Have you applied to college? Are there classes in the HS left for you to take? Will the HS allow you to stay if you have fulfilled the graduation requirements? Have you spoken to your guidance counselor about this?
As noted above a gap year could work as well if there is nothing left to take in your HS.
I don’t know if such a program is of interest or financially feasible, but have you considered a PG year? Basically a fifth year of high school at a private school? The ones I’ve heard of are at boarding schools, but day school’s may offer such programs also. Google pg programs private schools to begin learning more about it.
How many years of high school have you had?
Do you have 4 units of English, social science/history, and science (including one each in biology, chemistry, and physics), plusbmzrh through pre-calculus or calculus and foreign language through level 3,4, or AP?
I agree with the notion of a PG school. They are expressly designed for students like you who want a fifth year of high school before applying to college, and many have very good college placement. It would probably be a better fit then just doing your senior year of high school again.
^ the student is 16. As such I’m not sure s/he has gone through all 4 years of high school in the first place.
Op: does your high school have dual enrollment agreements with a local college?
^^^ I was a 16 year old senior (many decades ago) so it’s very possible that OP has gone through all 4 years of high school.
OP needs to tell more, we can’t guess at the grade situation, classes done and their rigor, scores, activities, etc. And what she thinks is a “good college.” Plus, is there a GC or is this home school? I agree it’s unusual to be a senior, considering this in March, without any applications in.
