Should i report my scholarship from another public school?

I received a $12,000 merit scholarship from the University of Vermont, and was admitted into their honors college. However, I just was accepted into UNC EA and am no longer even considering UVM. Should i email news of these honors to UNC in hopes of receiving merit money (i guess in a way to show them what the "competition" is offering?)?

Do i even have hope of receiving a merit scholarship if i have not yet received an invite to scholarship day? (im OOS)

Thanks, any information would be great!

Yeah I’m also wondering if anyone has tried in the past “bargaining” with scholarships/UNC. I know some people have had success with this at other schools, but since UNC has so many people wanting to go there anyways I don’t know if it would help at all…

If it was UVA they might care, but even then probably not. If you tell them about your scholarship to UVM, they’ll get a good chuckle.

Hey, it never hurts to ask.

If you do tell them, make sure you come off as humble. Like saying something, hey, UNC is my first choice, but it looks more financially feasible to go to UVM since they’re offering me this package… but I don’t want to go there. Is there anything UNC can help me out with?

My two cents.

I asked my guidance counselor about this, and she said it couldn’t hurt, so I tried. Unfortunately, it’s not going to get you anywhere.

yep. i tried. UNC says they dont take other scholarships into consideration when conducting their merit scholarship selection process
