Hi! I’m a rising senior, and took the ACT for the first time, on a whim, in June (I wasn’t happy with my SAT scores). I was pleasantly surprised when I got my scores back: 33 composite (35 Reading, 28 Math, 35 English, 33 Science, 33 Combined English/Writing, 10 Essay). My dream schools include Princeton and Columbia, and I saw that my composite falls in the middle 50% of accepted students. HOWEVER-- my math score is really low. Should I bother retaking just to try and improve that one score? Or should I move on? I plan on majoring in English and really don’t like math (although I’ve always taken the highest level courses).
Will my low math score significantly hurt my chances at some selective schools, or will my high English scores balance it out? Any insight would be appreciated.
Thanks!!
