I took Calculus BC my Junior year in HS and got a 4 on the AP test, but I don’t feel comfortable at all with the material (i don’t even think i answered half the test when I took it), so should I just start from the beginning at calculus I or go to a different one so I don’t waste money?

thanks =)

i'm taking Calc I because every teacher teaches differently and there might be some stuff that your teacher didn't cover in high school that was covered in Calc I so you'd be screwed in Calc II! So.. i figure, i'll know for the most part what's going on in Calc I so it'll be one of my easier classes.. and you wanna start out easy because you'll be trying to make that transition from high school to college.. but that's just me.

what major are you going into?

O_O The thought of re-taking Calculus makes me cringe.

Industrial Engineering

I also had to deal with this situation last year, and I chose to start at Calculus I.. it was alright review but I felt it was too easy and in most ways a waste of my time. Calculus II material (integrals) was much more challenging, requiring most of the knowledge learned from Calc I and actually forced me to re-learn my algebra/trig as well. If anywhere, start there!

just in case you didn't know, a 3+ on the BC exam lets to jump over math141(derivatives) and math142 (integrals) to math143 (sequences)

If you don't feel comfortable with the Calc material you learned, I suggest you to retake the class because the material will reappear in more complicated form when you progress on to your next calc class.
