Should I retake it?

Hey everyone,

I just received my GRE results and am surprised by my relatively mediocre writing score. I got a 780 Q (90th percentile) and 720 V (99th percentile), but only a 4.5 for analytical writing (68th percentile). I am planning to apply for M.Arch programs at several very competitive architecture schools. Do you think it would be worth it for me to retake the test simply to raise my writing score (and possibly my verbal score as well)?

Thanks,
Jason

No. The AW is generally meaningless. Besides, you don’t really want to wreck your extremely high percentile scores, wouldn’t you?

I don’t know about architecture specifically, but for any field your scores are very strong. When I took the GREs I also found my AW to be surprisingly low. So you’re not alone!
