Hi, so I just finished sophomore year and... agh. I have a final grade of a D- in Algebra 2 honors (I failed unweighted) and Chemistry. I also got a C in French 3 and Geometry, but I got an A+ in English Honors and a B in US History. I think I did so bad for a combination of things, mainly my total lack of motivation and my school being a completley horrible HS. But now I am moving to California and going to one of the best HS's in the state, and it offers sooo much more for me and I can guarantee I will be able to get straight A's there. The curriculum however is much harder and since I'm so upset with my GPA from this year I was wondering if I should retake sophomore year? Also, it'll give me a longer time to take the electives I want and gain leadership positions since 2 years at a huge school isn't that much time to get really good leadership positions. Any advice? Thanks!

Most schools don’t give you a choice to retake a grade unless they demand it or you did exceptionally badly. If you can, perhaps see if you can makeup the grades in those courses through a CC course or summer school, but it might be a little late at this point
