Should I retake the ACT? Applying for Cornell!

Hi, so I just got my September ACT score back. It was a 31 (E:33 M:32 R:29 S:29)
I'm planning to applying to Cornell ED, but I don't know if it would worth retaking. What do you guys think?

Here's my background if it helps making a decision:

ACT: 30 on first try ): and 31 on second
GPA: 4.0? my school doesn't really have a 'set' scale
I have a 97 out of 100 unweighted.
Weighted: 106
Rank: my school doesn't rank anymore
AP: World history (3- should I send it?), US History (4), Lang (4), Biology (4)
Senior Year: 5 APs: Spanish, Environmental, Calculus AB, Literature, and Government
Awards: National AP Scholar with Honor and highest AMC score in school

Extracurriculars:
-Red Cross (4 years): president and secretary
-Environmental Club (4 years): secretary
-NEHS (3 years): treasurer
-Played violin for 8 years
-Chamber Orchestra (4 years)
-NHS (4 years)
-Sci Honor Society (4 years)
-Key Club (4 years)
-Mathletes (4 years)
-History Honor Society (new club - 2 years)

Recommendations: getting one from my math teacher and current AP sci teacher (had him for freshman and senior year)
Essays: I think my commonapp is pretty good; still working on supplement
Ethnicity: Chinese.. unfortunately will be a weakness
Hooks: My dad went to Cornell.
So did my aunt and 3 cousins but I doubt they'd care. **Should I include this somewhere? Like my supplement? Or nah..

Your GPA would be 3.88 unweighted. Your legacy is a plus, but with your ACT score, it depends on which specific college you are applying to.

@viphan oh sorry, I forgot to put that! I’m applying to the school of agriculture and life sciences!

bump

yes

bump

I don’t have time to post chances at the moment, but viphan is wrong. A 97/100 is most definitely a 4.0, even if he says that it’s a 3.88. You don’t divide your average by 25 to get your GPA…

Can you carve out the time to plow through a few practice tests, taken under timed test conditions? A higher ACT would be helpful.

The middle 50th % for the class that enrolled last month was 30-34. 32 was the 50th percentile and the mean/average. Even as an ED legacy applicant, I would feel more comfortable being at the 50th %, at a minimum. Also, keep in mind that these are the stats of enrolled students, not accepted students. The accepted students’ stats are probably a little higher, to the extent that Cornell does not enjoy 100% yield.

Re: Class Rank. Even though your school does not rank, it probably provides a GPA distribution chart on the School Profile submitted to colleges. You may want to take a look at that to see where your GPA falls. Depending on the detail of the distribution, it can be quite revealing. Best for you to have access to the same info the Ad Coms will.
