Columbia's website (like several other Ivies) says you don't need to send in SAT subjects if you send in the ACT+Writing. I am probably sending in my 770 USH, but I don't know if I should send in 730 Lit -- is that low? Should I just send in USH, both, or none?

Thanks!

Lit is a harder test, and a 730 would likely otherwise be neutral to your application, so I’m inclined to say yes. Absolutely send in USH.

What was your ACT score? If you got a 35+, I would probably avoid sending lit, as it would be weaker than your other standardized testing. Otherwise, my advice would be to send both.

Hope this helps!

ACT was a 35. I was surprised my Lit score was so low because I’d been getting 780s on the practice tests and have gotten 36 on the English/Reading portions of my last 2 ACT attempts…

Thanks for the reply – should I just avoid it altogether, then? Writing/English is supposed to be one of my main strengths…
