My academic ability is reflected strangely at best by the College Board. Should I share these scores with Bowdoin?

CR 730, W 770
M 590…

Latin 700
Lit 700
US 570…

English Lang and Latin Lit AP scores pending

I’m satisfied with my scores in areas that I try to focus on (English, Latin), and I am still satisfied with the others that I couldn’t care less about (especially math, and I only took a third subject test in case some college might require three). These varying levels of dedication will certainly be reflected in the rest of my application, such as in my essays and English/Latin academic awards. I think the discrepancy at least shows passion. What do you think?

I don't think you should, just because of the <600s.

Although my math score was a little higher than yours, it was still low by Bowdoin standards. However, I did use a similar narrative to the one you plan on using about my strengths being in an unrelated field (in my case, history). Luckily my CR and writing scores, along with my scores in US History, European History and English subject tests, were high enough to bear that story out. Don't forget that you're grades in the subjects you say your strengths are matter a great deal as well.

As for whether or not to submit your scores, I think you should. Bowdoin's average math score is between a 650 and 720 (I believe) so that indicates that at least a quarter or so fall below that category and are still admitted. Since you did well on the other sections it will balance itself out.
