Should I stay, or Should I go, and should I get in debt?

Hello,

I am sure this should go under the financial aid thread, but I thought I'd give it a try here.

I am currently on a full ride at a LAC near my home. I have not been doing so well for various reasons, I am just not motivated here and I find it hard to make friends.

I got accepted to another LAC, but I would have to take around 7000 in loans for 2.5 years (assuming their gift aid doesn't change), as well as a Plus Loan. My family cannot really afford another payment at this time, and I don't want to be selfish, but I feel that I would be happier elsewhere for this other LAC is on the other side of the country!

I would finish my current college in 2 years, and the new one in 2.5 years. I have to decide by tomorrow, and I am just very scared about getting in debt. I also plan on grad school, but I fear that if I stay at my current school, even if I do better these next two years, which I will, I will not be able to get into a good graduate school. With my new school, I have the chance to do better for 2.5 years, and just have a new experience.

I am just very concerned about loan repayment, and job prospects as an Economics/Math major.

SO: should I stay, or should I go?

BUMP BUMP

Really, no reply? :(

If you and/or your family can’t afford it, then there is no option. Stay where you are and make the best of your situation. It doesn’t matter if you will be “happier” somewhere else. You definitely won’t be “happy” when you have to start making payments on a pile of student loans 3 years from now.

This says it all. Stay where you can afford it and try a few things differently in the coming years, like study abroad.

Do post in the FA & Scholarship forum as well for more comments.
