I am incoming student at a boarding school. I am already a bilingual student and wanted to ask whether studying a third language would be better than taking an elective courses such as foreign policy or economics. Because I’m bilingual I already fullfill my new school’s requirement. What are the benefits of studying a third language? Does it look better than taking an elective course?
There may be foreign language requirements in colleges and in general I think it looks better than an elective. Moreover, third language is easier to learn if you’re bilingual (my son is doing this) and knowing several languages may also be very useful later in life.

If you attend a boarding school, there should be excellent college advisers who’ll be able to tell you what to do.
Will you be entering the 9th or 10th grade? What languages do you speak?
@MYOS1634 I hope French, given their user name
Yes!! Learning any language is very beneficial.
And one point in studying language for the 2-4 years colleges ask for is the higher level of more formal subject matter, reading/writing/analysis, cultural learning, and more. Not just the ability at basic everyday levels. It’s not just about being bilingual.
