Hi all,
I wanna address a really quick aspect of my application about SAT Subject Tests that I doubt will “make-or-break” anything, but I feel like it’s slightly important for me. I’m applying to mostly T20s (Stanford, Harvard, Penn, etc), and I am in a dilemma with my SAT Spanish Test.
I have near perfect test scores on everything (SAT, ACT, GPA, and AP scores, and 4 800s on other Subject Tests Math2, Chem, Phys, and World Hist). However, I also received a 730 on the SAT Spanish test that I took just for fun along with Chem and Physics that day. I know this is quite a decent score for a non-native speaker, but it shows up like 75% percentile. This is making me a bit paranoid about whether to put it on my application.
I’d also like to emphasize that I’m planning on applying as intended major/interests in linguistics (or IR) + psychology. A lot of my application essays also focus on becoming a polyglot and speak 6 languages (including Spanish), and learning more. I feel like a language subject test demonstrates interest in the field I am truly interested in, and it also humanizes my application in a sense – showing that I’m not afraid to be “imperfect” and look like a robot that gets only perfect/near-perfect scores. However, my only major concern is that getting a 730 invalidates my polyglotism and true passion for language-learning and exploration because it’s not “good enough”.
What are your thoughts? Thank you in advance
