They accept creative writing pieces as supplements, but I’m not sure if it will help if they actually see what was published. Also, if I do send it, should I stick to just whatever was published, or also send in stuff that I’ve written that has not been submitted to any competitions, but is probably of the same or greater caliber?

bump. anyone?

Well, I’ll be sending in my own published poetry/microfiction but I’m also sending along a few unpublished extracts. But make sure it’s not too long. Perhaps try and see if you can fit it all into 2-3 pages.

Yeah I was wondering about that. How many pages seems write? I know that usually portfolios include 5-7 poems, but is that a bit much? or too little? What about negative poems that allude to anything negative – will they still look at the quality or will they be turned off by the negativity

Definitely send it, if it is good. And I wouldn’t worry about content, and even length, to a certain extent. I submitted all 33 pages of a play I wrote, and it dealt with sex, drugs, gay lawyers…fun stuff like that. Anyway, I got in ED. It may have been a fluke, though.

negative poems that allude to … negative. awesome english, right?

anyway, yeah I suppose I’ll stick to my 5 personal best. I don’t know if I should only the published stuff though…

Congrats on Brown!

It doesn’t hurt to send them, does it? Do send !

Haha, only if they think I suck

Thanks, guys.
