Should I take a loan to study abroad

I am planning to transfer to australia next year which I really think I should because it will help me get more independent and the education quality over there is so much better but the only problem is that I will have to take out a student loan of A$37000 for 3 semesters . I am just not sure if its all worth it . I mean if I take out a loan then after my graduation I will have to first pay off the loan and only then think about studying further like a postgraduation or something .

I would be thankful for any advice or suggestions

Why do you want to go to Australia? Do you have family there? Why do you think the quality of education is better? What makes you think you’ll be able to graduate in 3 semesters? What about study abroad through your college first, THEN decide if you go, and in that case, see if you qualify for a WHV before you commit to anything?

I’m thinking you haven’t told us the whole story, b/c there you can become ‘more independent’ by going anywhere away from home- across the US or around the world- and the quality of Australian universities is not actually better in absolute terms. There are some that are better there than some in the US, but their highest ranking uni is UMelbourne, at #42 (QS) or #40 (USNWR) behind unis such as UWisconsin (#26).

So, why do you really want to go to Australia? And who is going to loan you the guts of $30,000?

Where would you get $37K???
Who would loan that to you?

Does the loan cover living costs as well as tuition? The cost of living in Australia is much higher than most places in the US. If money is an issue at all this doesn’t seem like a very good idea. You can go for a vacation in Australia without taking out a loan!
