On this year’s January 23 test date, I did horribly in Literature and Math 1, scoring 540 and 590, respectively. I looked at the Score Choice policy and found out that if I don’t use the option, my scores will be automatically sent to the colleges that I apply to when I submit my college applications. I am about to go into junior year, and I don’t want colleges to see my bad scores. Should I take an SAT Subject Test that I know I am strong in so that I can use Score Choice to display my strengths, cover my weak areas, and not lower my admittance chances? I figured logically that even if I do use Score Choice if I don’t take another SAT Subject Test, I will have to submit one of my two horrible scores, which is probably going to be detrimental to my chances. So here’s another question: If I don’t take any more SAT Subject Tests and just willingly let my scores get sent to these colleges, does this mean I will hurt my chances? And when you use Score Choice, you can send only one test, right? I am freaking out over the possibility that I could get rejected by my dream colleges if I don’t do something about my SAT Subject Test scores. I honestly underestimated the difficulty of the tests, because I didn’t study that much, but it’s too late to go back now. I actually felt quite confident about my scores, but then I just completely bombed the sections. So based on what I have said, should I take this approach? I couldn’t find the answer under any FAQ’s the SAT website had. PLEASE HELP!!! I AM FREAKING OUT!!!
Someone please reply!
I do not know the answers to your questions, but want to give you feedback. I recommend calling an admissions counselor and asking them how they evaluate SAT subject test scores and score choice. I think that they will help ease your mind.
