I plan on majoring in Computer Science in the software engineering area. I was wondering if I should take AP Physics senior year? I can't do it next year for sure because I won't meet the prereqs for it until senior year.

And senior year i will be taking AP Gov, AP Chem, AP Bio, Calculus, Honors Comparitive Religions, and some other rigorous courses. I also heard AP Physics is the most challenging class at our school, very few make an A - one of the reasons having to do with the teacher.

So what should I do? I'm also not that good at math :(

If you want to go into CS, then yes, try to take AP Physics since you'll be taking even more physics in college. Note that in CS, you'll take a lot of math classes so you might want to concentrate even more on math in HS to prepare yourself.

lol..?

CS is MATH my friend.. have you taken AP Comp Sci yet?

It's science is it not? All sciences will benefit you in your major of Computer Science.

i dont think you understand what CS is.. it has nothing to do with science, it is programming, logic and math is needed.

uh...i think the "science" in computer science is throwing you off....ap bio and ap chem are not relevant in computer science....i mean its nice to have chem by all means...but ap bio definitely not...um computer science is not science...actually at some schools its an actual math class....i would advise physics.

3 AP sciences in one year, ouch, you don't need chem if you are not good at math.

Bio and Chem are quite relevant if one chooses to go into bioinformatics or other related fields after obtaining a CS degree. It's about the application of CS to the study and problem solving of the genome, DNA, cells, etc. This is quite an emerging field right now.

I agree with the others that have posted that you should definitely take AP Physics. Physics teaches you to solve problems in a way very similar to Computer Science. You must think logically about what you know and what you are trying to find/accomplish. Even if it doesn't help with your programming skills, its an amazing class and as others have pointed out, likely a requirement for your major. Then again, I might just be bias...I'm a physics major ;)

When you get to college for CS you'll be required at minimum a year of physics courses (maybe even some chem). The thinking put into physics is also a good mindset to get into if you're doing anything analytic, so if you could take AP Physics I would definetely advise you to do so! Could you perhaps drop one of the other AP science courses in favor of it? If you're worried about the GPA aspect don't worry too much as people understand that it's not easy stuff to do.

thanks for all the input guys

[If you're worried about the GPA aspect don't worry too much as people understand that it's not easy stuff to do.]

but they will expect me to do really well because I am a CS major...I don't really like the "Math" part i just like working with computers. I'm decent in programming basic stuff/webdesign i like that kind of stuff. I don't like math really...or physics. The problems would probably take me forever to do.

yes masterus,
cs is science, but it is a ****load of more math.
yet another thing you know nothing about.

Yes, of course. If AP Physics has a lot of calculus in there -- of course.

I don't want to dissappoint you, but CS is math. It is very much of math. Let alone graph theory, linear algebra (for 3D), and all other kinds of top notch math. Recently, programming was considered to be a sub-field of mathematics.
So, what I'm saying is that's no problem for you to go to CS but be flexible so you can change to another major.

My math is a lot more advanced than yours. I'm taking Calculus BC for Sophmore year, whereas you won't

Were we discussing rigor of math of each participant? Masterus, please, don't ruin this topic as well. Nobody cares when and what math do you take. Thank you.

Masterus you don't know ur taking BC Calculus...you havent even started ninth grade. Your grades might not qualify you. It is a possibility. I love how every time you get into argument you take it upon yourself to brag and tell people you're superior to them.

haha dumb ass. I'm taking AP Calc sophomore year. So shut up.
