I’m a sophomore and I am taking math 3 honors right now. My question is that would it look bad to colleges if I take AP Stats in 11th grade but don’t take a math in 12th grade? Or should I take math 4 honors in 11th grade and take AP Stats in 12th grade? Do less math classes look bad? Or am I fine with not taking a math in 12th grade? I live in NC and I want to go to UNC Chapel Hill.
Should I take AP Stats in 11th grade or take math 4 honors in 11th grade and AP Stats in 12th grade?
If math 4 is precalculus, it is better to take it in 11th grade so that you have the option to take calculus in 12th grade.
Actually math 4 is not pre calc. It’s a different class. I’m not interested in taking AP calc, just AP Stats. The prerequisite for AP Stats is math 3. So I could just take AP Stats next year. But at the same time wouldn’t taking an extra math class look better to colleges? Which in my case is math 4 next year instead of AP Stats
For more selective college admissions, it is safest to continue progressing in high school math until you either graduate from high school, complete calculus, or complete the highest level offered (if the high school does not offer calculus).
What are the math sequences at your school if math 4 is not precalculus (followed by calculus)?
