Hi. I am deciding which classes to take in upcoming 10th grade year. I am thinking to go to computer related field. Which science class(es) should I aim to take this year?
I wanted to take both Biology and Chemistry so that I could take AP Bio in 11th grade, and AP Chem in 12th grade. But there is no spot open for Chemistry for 10th graders (raising 10th graders pick classes after raising 11th & 12the graders pick their classes). Should I take Bio & Physics in 10th grade, and take Chemistry in 11th grade? Would taking Physics worth more than taking Fine Arts class (it’s Commercial Art which is something I am very interested, and I need the 1.0 credit of Fine Arts anyway to fulfill the graduation requirement). Or taking chemistry is more important than bio or physics, and I better try to talk to the counselor if she could help putting me in Chemistry class?
Which AP science class is important to aim computer related field in the future?
Thank you for your time and advice!
Also, which AP classes are good to have on my transcript to go to that field? I am going to work hard to apply to some of the prestigious schools.
Should I plan Calculus AP/BC rather than AP Stats? Or it doesn’t matter? (I can take either one of the AP Math at 12th grade).
If I have to choose one from AP Bio, AP Chemistry, and AP Physics, which one would be the best? In order to take two of them, I really have to find a way to take Chemistry in 10th grade. I don’t know so far there is no seat open…
Thank you.
The only thing I think that matters of those discussed in this thread is AP Calc over Stats, or even both if you can.
Any AP science will do, none are inherently more related to computer fields. Schools will care that you took an AP science, not so much which one. Go with your personal preference.
One edition I failed to consider: The hardware side, if you were interested in that, would probably benefit most from Physics. The comments of Math would still stand, with less importance for Stats.
