In my school you can only take one your junior year. I want to major in something math/science related so they both seem important and I can’t decide! Side note: I’m taking AP Bio next year so would one of those align?
Chemistry will be more useful as a pre-AP Bio class.
Physics is a good background to have if you plan to do anything engineering in college.
Physics is more mathematical than chemistry. If you love math and intend to do something with engineering, math, ro computer science then you might like physics better (I am in this category). Otherwise as @AroundHere says chemistry has more of a relationship with biology.
There may be a right answer for some people, but which is preferred will depend upon what you like, and for many people either will be equally useful.
What othet sciences have you taken. Preferably you would want both chemistry and physics in high school.
I have taken normal earth science and normal biology.
You need to take chem and physics during HS if you want a STEM major…you may have to double up or take AP Physics 1 instead of AP Bio
If you want to major in STEM, is there a way for you to take regular or honors chem and AP Physics1 next year? Then take either AP Bio or AP chem senior year.
If you can only take one of the two next year, then take chemistry, and make sure to take physics honors or AP physics 1 Senior year.
Yes, it is more important to take some kind of physics and Chem in HS than to take AP Bio. Ideally at least at the honors level.
If you want to major in a STEM field, you have to take both physics and chemistry. Even if you didn’t want to major in a a stem field, it is still recommended that one of each of biology, chemistry, and physics are taken in order to prepare for any future science classes in college.
You should take a sequence of bio, chem, and physics in HS.
