I got my SAT score back today and I got a 1440 (680 on verbal and 760 on math). I feel that although I have a high math score, I’m capable of getting an 800, and I’m currently signed up to take the SAT in October. However, if I don’t get a higher score on math, I doubt I’ll get a 680 or higher on the verbal. Therefore, my composite score would go down. Would this be a red flag for colleges that ask to see all your test scores? For instance, if I got a 1390 on the October test.
I forgot to say the reason for me wanting to get an 800 on math. I want to get an 800 because many colleges super score the SAT. Therefore, if I got an 800 on math, they would interpret my SAT as a 1480
I have reposted this thread, as I posted this in the wrong discussion topic. The new thread is here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-admissions/2018401-should-i-take-the-sat-a-third-time.html#latest
If U of M superscores the SAT, wouldn’t this resolve the matter for you?
Also, it would probably be helpful for you to stop obsessing about admission to U of M, as evidenced by your multiple threads and postings in this forum. If you get admitted, great; if not, you’ll get into a school where you can apply your talents, and life will go on. But do try to step back and get a little perspective; it’s really not worth all the mental anguish that you seem to be going through in this process.
I agree. Thanks for the advice honestly.
UMICH does not superscore, however, they will look at your best composite score. So do retake and see if you can improve your composite score. Read the link below.

@billcsho: That’s a useful link to the U of M website, since according to College Board, U of M takes the"highest section" of the new SAT, see https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/pdf/sat-score-use-practices-participating-institutions.pdf at page 34.
Perhaps College Board needs to update its information.
That is old info as it still shows 3 section scores on it. Anyway, I would not trust CB on that. One should always look up the school’s website for that kind of information as it may be changed.
