hi all

first time up I went 2210: 780/730/700

second time up I did much worse: 730/790/640 (something like that)

now combined this gives me a 2270, but the 2 other scores from the second test were much worse. should I take the test again and go for the 800s, to go for the 2300? is there any real advantage?

also, is that second test gonna affect how my scores are perceived? what range of schools does a 2270 fall under?

to round out the testing picture, I've got 5s in AP US, Euro, and Lit, and 800s on US History and Lit. should I just quit with all the standardized testing while I'm ahead?

If you did that well and then went down, you’re statistically not likely to ever improve that 2200 without extensive prep, which probably isn’t worth the opportunity cost. And at average-good schools, a 2210 is good enough and for super-selective Harvardy places a 2400 won’t get you in, anyway.

interesting. do colleges combine the scores or do they do single-sitting type ish? basically, is my score right now a 2210 or a 2270?

Pretty much all colleges combine best scores. it depends on which particular school you’re talking about, but yeah you pretty much have a 2270.

thanks for your help. what kind of schools is 2270 sufficient for?

Pretty much any school. Yeah, Harvard does reject 2400s a lot, but hey, you might get lucky. You pretty much fall in the middle 50% or top 25% of every single school in the nation.
