should I talk about the conferences I've attended in my personal statement?

<p>I've attended some pretty obscure conferences;Western Regional Queer Conference, the Grassroots Radio Conference, the Students of Color Conference, etc...should I mention them in my personal statement? Or is that too much information?</p>

<p>if it does not relate to the purpose and focus of the graduate program it is irrelevant and should not be mentioned</p>

<p>Agreed. If it is specifically relevant, then a brief mention might be acceptable, but only if it used as evidence of a statement you're making in the SoP.</p>

<p>I would assume that mentioning having presented at a [top-ranked in field association's national] conference would be something to be mentioned even if the research itself is outside your specific area of interest? especially mentioning things you've learned, etc., right?</p>
