Should I Use Score Choice?

For Princeton and UPenn, it says they permit score choice, but they encourage the submission of all test scores. I’ve taken two ACTs one a 30 composite, the other a 34 composite. Should I just send the 34 or send both?

I would just send one, but it really shouldn’t matter too much. Most colleges focus only on your highest score for standardized testing.

For top tier and ACT, it’s subscores that matter.

I don’t have a SuperScore, though, so sending both wouldn’t help me in the subscore department. They encourage sending all test scores, but they permit score choice. I’m not in a financial hardship, but I’d rather not waste money sending both scores if sending one wouldn’t disadvantage me.

Is it the money. Or is concern about the 30. If the latter, don’t send it.

The 30 with the 34 will not be why you do or do not receive an admit. Everyone can have an off day and relatively speaking the 30 is outstanding.

But if it won’t help your application or the lower score isn’t part of the bigger picture of improvement/personal story - I would personally submit your best score.

But it really is about the whole package.

I just want to make sure I’m not putting myself at a disadvantage by not sending all scores. I’m not embarrassed or anything about the 30, I didn’t even study for that test anyway. I knew I wasn’t going to get a great score, and I’m sure colleges know that some kids don’t study the first time. I just find it odd how the schools say they permit score choice, but they then encourage all score reports. If they want one or the other just say so, but it is what it is. I’ll just send my 34, thanks for the help.
