Should I use score-choice?

So I have applied to Amherst and I have a small question.

My scores are:
First try SAT1: 460 CR, 760 M, 610 W = 1830
Second try SAT1: 680 CR, 640 M, 780 W = 2100
Superscore: 680 CR, 760 M, 780 W = 2220

Math2 SAT II: 790
Physics II: 700

ACT: 35 E, 34 M, 30 R, 34 S = 33 COMPOSITE

I do not know if I should:

submit my ACT, SAT1, AND SAT2 scores

OR

submit JUST my ACT and SAT2 scores (since Amherst allows score choice)

Use score choice and send everything.

Just send the ACT.

Just send the ACT.

Do you mean ACT and SAT2s?

Or just ACT?

ACTs mean that you don’t have to take SAT IIs.

These guys are telling you to just sent the ACTs.
I agree with that.

But then again, they’re all pretty strong scores. I would just send everything.

I was thinking of sending ACT+SAT2s since that’ll be stronger than just the ACT.
Any thoughts?

or will my subject tests hurt me?

I think you should send all.

The Math II SAT II will show that you’re fairly strong in Math - something your SATs fail to emulate because you dropped a significant amount second time around. However, I’m pretty sure that Amherst has a policy of using the highest scores.

I’d send all. But if you’re leaning towards the direction of not sending SAT I’s, I’d just stick with ACT + SAT IIs.

However, be weary that scores aren’t everything. Amherst looks for the “whole package.”

The scores in those particular subjects will hurt you.

I misspoke.

Just send the ACT.

Uhh, okay. I’m receiving a mixed bag of responses and this is really confusing me.

kwu said that “The scores in those particular subjects will hurt you”. So should I just send the ACT?

I personally thought that a 790 and a 700 were fairly strong with an ACT score of 33 just as extra testing which might enhance my application. Any suggestions?

Well, you have a mixed bag of scores.

Your superscored SAT is very good, and your ACT is competitive. However, your 790 is in the 88th percentile and your 700 is in the 82nd percentile. Your inconsistent SAT Reasoning scores may raise red flags, but Score Choice may be even more suspect.

Submitting the ACT alone is the most risk-adverse course of action to take, and it’s probably the best one, since you want to avoid as much scrutiny as you can.
