Should i wait for after class to buy books?

Hello i will be taking Math 141 ( Calculus with Analytic Geometry 2) this fall semester and i am confused on what books to buy. Penn state book store says i need 5 new books (1 book is almost $300) i need to buy because they contain access codes. It said the same thing for chemistry textbook but i emailed my professor and he said that the access codes are not required and i could buy a old book. I do not know who my math professor is yet so i cant email him/her. So should wait after class to buy books or just buy whatever the book store says? Thank you for your answers!!!

Most students wait for class to start before buying books, unless it’s really important to get a rental text or used, because sometimes those sell out and you are stuck with new. But generally, it’s most cost effective to wait. Although the lines at the various booksellers are tedious, it goes pretty fast. Remember, you have more than one place to buy books, not just the “official” PSU bookstore.

Yeah, wait til classes start and your professors let you know what materials you need. When you go to buy books, consider the on-campus bookstore, the ‘Student Bookstore’ (downtown on College Ave), and check Amazon.
