should I?

So i am in my beginning of 8th grade and i'm moving to a different town, but this town has like a bunch of stuck up snob students. My parents are considering Homeschooling me. Should I or should i go to public middle school with a bunch of stuck up snobs??? I know I'm only in my beginning of 8th grade but I'm worried if i don't go to school, am i going to be able to get into an Ivy League collage like Harvard, Dartmouth,Yale or something like Boston University.

1 - It seems highly unlikely that all students in your new town are stuck up snobs.

2 - You need to want to homeschool (or do anything else in life) for its advantages, in addition to avoiding the disadvantages of the alternative. What is good about home schooling? How would you benefit from it? How would you make best use of the opportunities it provides, and how would you mitigate the disadvantages?

3 - Well-prepared homeschoolers, just like well-prepared traditional students, get into those top schools every year. Read around this Forum and you’ll see plenty.

4 - Most people, homeschoolers or not, who apply to the Ivy Leagues and other very top schools don’t get in. Those schools have too many qualified applicants to have room for all of them. There are many wonderful colleges, and the perfect college for you may not be the most prestigious college that everyone’s heard of.

5 - Homeschooling isn’t the same as truancy - “I’m worried if i don’t go to school” - whether you “go” to school or not, you need to be getting educated. If your parents are considering homeschooling as an alternative that means you’re not getting educated, you definitely don’t want to take that option.

6 - Congratulations on planning so early! Focus on taking English and writing classes - good quality communication is very important for everyone.

Good luck!
