I do love math, but math didn’t love me, amazingly though I kinda matured this junior year and I have an “A” in AP Calc A/B, strangest thing ever cause it just clicked all of a sudden.

Good to see you’ve decided to spend your money on other things!

All the best to you and your family in the college-hunt!

I see you already made your decision. I can tell you that my high schooler has a D on his transcript for math freshman year for an honors math class. He dropped out of the honors track for two years and is now getting A’s in AP Calculus having earned his way back in. He has explained the situation on his applications.

Depending on what colleges and programs you are considering, it could make a difference. For most selective schools, it won’t, in my opinion, and they will look at your school class rank based on the courses you took at the school in determining what your gpa, unless the program is affiliated with your school. However, for state schools and programs such as that for the UC’s, the gpa may well be recalculated with all outside classes taken into consideration. If that is the case, and it is a deal breaker, it certainly could be worthwhile to retake the course.
