Should one submit only the required # of rec letters or use max # of rec letter allowed?

<p>Sorry for asking -- I was wondering if there was such thing as too much recommendation letters for the common app. Most colleges seem to accept two letters, but common app allows me to submit three in those cases. When should one submit max number of letters and when should one avoid it?</p>

<p>Yes, there is such thing as too many letters. IMO, you should never go more than 1 letter over the required number of recs. You should never aim to submit the max number of letters- just what you need. 2 letters required with one additional is fine, but this shouldn’t be approached as submitting the maximum number of recs if that number is 3, it should be seem as 1 over the minimum.</p>
