Should twins apply to the same college for early action?

My twin and I have the same stats, same clubs, same positions in clubs, same grades...you name it... I have been reading some CC threads saying that if twins apply to the same school, that school will either accept both or reject both. We are into CS, so should we both EA the same school or different ones??? Please help me out! Thanks a lot! :)

IMHO based on everything I’ve read, you should each apply to the schools you want to attend without taking the other twin’s choices into consideration. Given that you are so similar, you will probably have significant overlap in your college lists. This is natural and not a problem. Since you have essentially the same stats and the same ECs, you should both obtain the same results from the schools you have in common. Having read up on this, my understanding is that both applying to the same schools will NOT hurt you. In fact, if they like you, they will take you both as they have a better chance of getting at least one of you, and getting both makes for very loyal alumni/families, so it is all good in their eyes.

Each apply where you want, crossover is fine, and you can decide come spring whether you want to be together or apart. Don’t limit your options just yet. Best of luck to you!

Yes. See: <a href=“Twins applying to same schools? - Applying to College - College Confidential Forums”>Twins applying to same schools? - Applying to College - College Confidential Forums;

I am a twin as well. My brother and I are going to different schools (states away). I personally would recommend you apply to different schools, not because of anything admission related, but simply for the social and personal benefits. When you are a twin you are almost a person and half and are always associated with your twin. At some point you want some independence and college is the perfect time to find that.

I don’t think it will matter as colleges review each application individually. You should each apply where you want – if it turns out to be the same school, so be it.

They should apply wherever they want, independent of the other. And if they decide later on to go to different schools, so be it, but they shouldn’t limit their options now. Should make for an interesting app season, haha. Good luck!

I agree with other posters. You might be twins, but you are individuals and should apply to where they really would be happy to attend if admitted. If you both want to be together, then apply to the same schools, if you are accepted, fine, if not others will. Just remember to apply broadly with safeties.
So have that discussion with your twin, and go from there.
Best of luck to you.

Sorry for the “they” OP -somehow I thought it was a parent posting lol
